LIS 716: Leadership Strategic Communication - Leadership Vision Project

For our final project in the course, we had to choose a project, execute it, and reflect on the experience in a short presentation. For my leadership project I wrote a staff proposal for introducing music into our small, standalone retail store. Although the idea ultimately was rejected due to the cost-benefits analysis of setting up music, the project was instrumental in helping me understand how to make a change in the workplace using different communication styles and leadership skills. My reflection on the topic can be found here.

LIS 725: Curriculum and School Libraries - Grant Proposal

Completing a grant proposal was a really practical and eye-opening experience for me. I often rely on being humorous in my communications, so it was a great learning experience to write something in a more formal tone. It also allowed my to practice my leadership and communication skills. Knowing the budgetary issues many libraries face, I know it is crucial to be able to convince the appropriate stakeholders that libraries can support community literacy and life-long learning with enough support.

Here is my grant proposal.

And my estimated budget.
